To celebrate, we caught up with the brilliant James Dundas – Founder and Managing Director of The Wedding Present Company - a London-based, wedding gift list company that we at Wingfield Digby are honoured to supply.

From The White Company and Jo Malone, to Le Creuset and Jasper Conran, The Wedding Present Company offers a range of gifts that is as unique and luxurious as their team is thoughtful and dedicated.

James talks to us about weddings, gift lists and personal favourites...

1. Describe The Wedding Present Company in 3 words.

Personal, luxurious, exciting.

2. Describe the team behind The Wedding Present Company in 3 words.

Friendly, knowledgeable, devoted.

3. Your beautiful showroom is based on Chelsea’s King’s Road. Where is the furthest a bride & groom have travelled from to visit?

Couples travel to us from all over the world, so probably Australia. The majority come from London and the Home Counties area, but many make a special trip to London just to do their list with us. We make sure their visit is always worth the trip!

4. What do you enjoy most about working from your central London location?

It’s location. Surrounded by gorgeous interior design, homeware shops and auction houses, it’s also easy to get to. Anyone who’s driven down the King’s Road knows the Furniture and Arts Building - the big green building that houses our showroom. It’s iconic!

 5. How did you come to launch a wedding list company?

24 years ago after getting married myself, I saw a gap in the market. The alternative options for couples were very bland with a limited choice of presents and no personal service whatsoever. Now, couples can select from an almost unlimited range of presents, either from our London showroom or online, while being guided and helped at every stage of the way by our dedicated wedding list advisors. Many of our team have done their own wedding lists with us and then come on to join the business, which speaks volumes!

6.  What are the key trends you’ve noticed in wedding list requests over the past year?

Definitely a move towards a more minimalist, Scandinavian style. Colour-wise, blue and white are always very popular. Copper is making a comeback, especially in the kitchen. Animal or exotic graphics are very popular - especially flamingos, bees, elephants, pineapples and palm trees.

7. The Wedding Present Company has some fantastic ‘Inspiration’ collections, including City Pad, Rustic Boho and Coastal Retreat. If you had to choose one for yourself, which would it be and why?

I would probably go for the Country Cottage collection, since I live in the Wiltshire countryside. The Oak and Rope Company has a fantastic offering; while Kadai firebowls and Tweedmill throws are ideal for cosy alfresco entertaining.

8. If you had to save one photo from your home, which would it be and why?

It would have to be a picture from my wedding, probably one of us leaving the reception with confetti flying everywhere and a lot of happy faces waving us on our way. Such happy memories.

9. What is your favourite Wingfield Digby feather type?

Guinea Fowl.

Every newlywed couple has that favourite photograph from their special day, so it’s important to get a frame that is just as lovely, yet doesn’t detract from the important photo. I love this Wingfield Digby Real White Goose Feather & Glass Photo Frame: it’s intricate and beautiful.

Having previously dabbled in the wine industry, I’m a stickler for good quality wine accessories. This Wingfield Digby Real Green Pheasant Feather & Glass Wine Coaster is a lovely addition to our dining table.
