Feather Your Nest - London Design Week 2018

Feather Your Nest - London Design Week 2018

Here at Wingfield Digby, we are always incredibly excited when leading interior designers, manufacturers & brands celebrate our signature natural material: feathers.

We are therefore looking forward to this year’s London Design Week (4th - 9th March 2018, Design Centre Chelsea Harbour) more than ever. One of London’s most influential interiors events, its extensive – yet no less enticing - programme includes everything from meet-the-designer talks and presentations, to behind-the-scenes collections and imaginative collaborations.

What has particularly caught our eye? Of all its installations and events, many are hosted by international names in the interiors world who use our favourite feathers in their work. Here’s our round-up of the top plumage pieces:

Style Library Presents: The Making of Embleton Bay by Sanderson

A beautiful wallpaper collection effortlessly blending the serenity of the British coastline with the harmony of nature. With speckled eggs and wading birds, this coastal collection shares Wingfield Digby’s passion for bringing the countryside inside – in a most elegant way.

Osborne & Little Pop-Up Archive

Osborne & Little has long been one of our favourite fabric & wallpaper designers. Why? Aside from being based locally on Chelsea’s King’s Road, their designs never cease to be characterised by pioneering innovation and quality. One of our favourites is naturally Peacock by Matthew Williamson at Osborne & Little – an eye-catching feather type that we have found to be most popular with millennials and when framing black & white photos.

We also love how they’re celebrating their 50th anniversary suitably – with a 6ft high birthday cake!

Conversations in Design: Rooms of our Own

‘Individualism’ is a concept close to Wingfield Digby’s heart, thanks to the unique, and thereby 100% individual, feathers that form each of our luxury designs. We’re therefore thrilled to hear that the renowned Sophie Ashby (of Studio Ashby) and Susie Atkinson (Susie Atkinson Design) will be speaking on this subject alongside international trailblazer Hubert Zandberg.

Continuing the peacock theme, both Sophie and Susie have likewise maximised the peacock’s iridescent, culturally symbolic style:

New Collection Inspiration: Lizzo

Yet another interiors icon to apply the textured feather & eclectic peacock blueprint to wallpaper & interiors. At London Design Week, Lizzo will be guiding visitors through the story behind their new Gentry & Mythology collections. The Wingfield Digby team have long admired their Peacock fabric (as found in Paris’ infamous Maison Souquet) – but their Pheasant fabric steals the day for us!

Garden Party with Summit Furniture

A veritable highlight in the show calendar. To honour their new Nina Campbell collection, Nina herself will be sharing the inspiration behind some of her most popular patterns. Undeniably one of the UK’s most influential interior designers, Wingfield Digby admire her ceaseless creative flair and business acumen – not to mention regular use of floral and feather motifs.

Our favourite feather-filled Nina Campbell designs include Perroquet, Paradiso, Perdana, Penglai and Birdcage Walk.
